The beginning of valet de chambre War I (WWI) and who can be blamed for starting time this war is complicated and has created great debates throughout history. The causes of WWI will be explored in detail: Imperialism, Militarism, Nationalism, The Alliance corpse, and the assassination of Austria-Hungarian Arch-Duke Franz Ferdinand. Imperialisms component part will be explored by looking at the economic, policy-making and military affects. Militarism was a major contributor because nations gained strength by building up their armies and equipped them with ammunition. Nationalism became a endangerment when carried to the extreme leaving certain nations believing they should be the greater causality over certain people and nations. The Alliance System was created to keep peace but ended up having the verso effect. The assassination of Arch-Duke Franz Ferdinand was responsible for the domino affect that followed and started WWI. By reviewing separately of these contributing factors it will be shown that the responsibility for WWI cannot be attributed to either one of the great powers or the issues above, but more as a result of how the actions and decisions of many nations contributed to the first slap-up War, WWI.




At the beginning of the twentieth century, imperialism and colonialism were very active; supporting the industrial Revolution that had began in the mid-nineteenth century. New technologies such as locomote power, electric power, and factories required a lot of raw resources that could be found in new territories; such as trade union America and India. Existing nations had greater importance because they acquired the colonies which had the better resources they need. The Nations needed to support and protect these colonies raising the importance of naval power in a nations military.
